Uhuru Volleyball Cup to confirm their participation

DAR ES SALAAM R e g i o n a l V o l l e y b a l l A s s o c i a t i o n (DAREVA) has appealed to those wishing to take part at this year’s Uhuru Volleyball Cup to confirm their participation as the deadline is extended to today evening.


AREVA Technical Committee Chairman, Nasoro Sharifu, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that preparations are on top gear to stage the event. He said that the five-day tournament is set to be held from December 5th to 9th, this year, at the National Indoor Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
“The tournament is open for Dar es Salaam based teams to register and compete. I would like to appeal to as many teams as possible to register so as to have a successful event,” he said.
He added that seven teams have already confirmed their participation at the event. He named the teams as Tanzania Prisons men’s and women’s, Jeshi Stars men’s and women’s, Victory sports, Chui, Police Marine all will field men teams.
“It will be an open tournament for all Dar es Salaam teams from public and private institutions, higher learning institutions and clubs,” he said, adding that no participation fee will be charged for teams wishing to compete in the event.
“The tournament is strictly for men and ladies teams based in Dar es Salaam,” he insisted, saying hefty prizes for individuals and teams are up for grab.
He said that discussions are on-going to decide in future whether winners of this event could represent the region at the annual national Mapinduzi Cup. , The event is organised to mark the 55 years of Tanganyika Independence.
